Who we are

Insperium is operated by Dynamic Source Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, with its address at Flat/Rm 185 G/F, Hang Wai Industrial Centre, No. 6 Tai Street, Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong ("we", "us"). You can reach us at info@getinsperium.com.

The service

Insperium is an online course for learning to read Chinese characters, with meanings in several languages, spaced reviews, practice drills and, for members, stories and dialogs. We keep improving the course, so features and content can change over time; we will not take away the core of what you pay for during a period you have paid for.

Learning results depend on how you use the course. The time and coverage figures on our site are estimates based on our own model and on published frequency data, not promises of a particular result.

Your account

You need an account to use the course. Give us an email address you can receive mail at, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. An account is for one person.

You must be at least 16 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, to create an account.

Membership and billing

The membership starts with an introduction: you pay $1 for your first 7 days. Unless you cancel during those 7 days, the membership then continues at $29 per month, charged automatically to your payment method at the start of each monthly period until you cancel. We email you before the first $29 charge.

Prices are in US dollars. Your bank or card provider may charge currency conversion fees, and taxes may apply depending on where you live. Payments are processed by Stripe.

If you became a member on an earlier plan, you keep that plan and its price for as long as your membership continues without interruption.

If a payment fails, we may retry it and suspend membership features until it succeeds. We may change the price of the membership in the future; we will tell you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account settings. If you cancel during the first 7 days, you are never charged the $29. If you cancel later, your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for and is not renewed; we do not refund the remaining part of a period, except where the law requires it or we choose to.

Your account and your learning history stay on file after you cancel, so you can pick up where you left off if you come back. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing info@getinsperium.com.

Right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers)

If you are a consumer living in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to withdraw from the membership within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason. Because the course starts immediately at your request, if you withdraw within those 14 days we refund what you paid minus an amount proportionate to the days you already had access. To withdraw, email info@getinsperium.com with your account email and a clear statement that you are withdrawing.

Books

Individual graded readers, when they are offered, are one-time purchases, separate from the membership, for your personal use. The price shown at checkout applies.

Fair use

The course is for your personal, non-commercial learning. Please do not share your account, copy or redistribute the content (texts, translations, audio, illustrations), scrape the site, or try to get around the membership or interfere with the service. We may suspend or close an account that does, after warning you where that is reasonable.

Our content

The course, its texts, translations, audio, illustrations and software belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. Your membership gives you a personal right to use them through Insperium for as long as it lasts; it does not transfer ownership.

Availability and liability

We work to keep Insperium available and accurate, but it can occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or because of problems outside our control, and the course may contain mistakes; we correct them when we find them.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops. We change the date at the top when we do, and we tell members by email about changes that affect them before they take effect. If you do not agree with a change, you can cancel before it applies to you.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts. If something goes wrong, please email us first; most problems are quicker to solve that way.
